What is injection molding?
Injection molding is the
process of heating thermoplastic material until it melts, then forcing it
under pressure with a plunger into a steel mold cavity.
The mold, or die, is
referred to as tooling. Since tooling must be able to sustain an extreme
amount of heat and pressure, it made from heavy-duty materials (usually
metal, such as steel or aluminum), and is generally expensive.
Large hydraulic machines,
known as Injection Molding Machines (or press), use a clamping unit to open
and close the mold automatically, and an injection unit to heat and transmit
the plastic materials into the mold.
The process of injection
molding has been used since the 1920’s. It is an economical and versatile
method used to provide improved plastic products.
What is Tooling?
Tooling is the mold (or
die) used in injection molding to create specific shapes or designs. Since
tooling (or the mold or die) must be able to sustain an extreme amount of
heat and pressure, it made from heavy-duty materials (usually metal, such as
steel or aluminum), and is generally expensive.
Tooling and Molding are
interchangeable terms.
What is an Injection Molding Machine?
An Injection Molding Machine (or press), is comprised of three primary
components: 1) Clamps, that open and close the mold using controlled
pressure, 2) Injection Unit, to melt and distribute the plastic granules,
and 3) Mold (or die), which is the customized product design apparatus that
produces a particular plastic product.
What is Insert Molding?
Insert molding occurs when
a metal or heavy plastic item is placed in the mold prior to the molten
plastic being injected. The insert is secured when the plastic hardens.
Examples of insert molding would be an electrical plug or a pair of
scissors, which both consist of metal inserts within the plastic casings.
What is a Molded Prototype?
A molded prototype gives the actual look and feel of a finished product.
Changing a prototype costs significantly less than the cost to change an
actual production tool.
What is China Molding or China Plastic?
China Molding or China
Plastic refers to injection molding production that has been globally
outsourced to a China manufacturing facility.
What is the advantage to Global Sourcing?
Global Sourcing eliminates
the obstacles involved with doing business in a foreign country on your own;
such as communication barriers, cultural disparities, customs, exchange
rates, technology infrastructures, time zone differences and distance.
Why should we choose Rite Tech
Industries over other Global Sourcing Services?
Rite Tech Industries is your one-stop shopping source for offshore tooling,
specifically, China tooling and China manufacturing. We eliminate the risks
involved with our customers outsourcing to China on their own, providing a
seamless turn-key solution and a significant cost savings over our
competitors.
How much money can I save with Rite Tech’s Global Sourcing Deals?
By leveraging our overseas
resources, we are able to save our customers up to 70%.
Are duty and taxes included in my
estimate?
What is the standard turn-around time?
Approximately 4 to 8 weeks from mold design until production.
Timelines and digital photos will be supplied every week to show the
progress of the mold.
Is there a minimum quantity per order?
